ACRECONF India 2012 will have architect Alfredo Munoz as international lecturer

Gathering together on January 12-13 some of the greatest architecture and engineering names present in India like HOK, AECOM, SOM, ABIBOO Architecture or L&T among others.

ACRECONF, international conference organized by Delhi Chapter of ISHRAE in association with ASHRAE India Chapter, will be held on January 12-13 2012. The venue of this event will be the emblematic India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, India.


This coming year the subject of the conference returns to the origins of the universe, reviving the Mother Nature through the continuous improvement of design in all types of buildings. This lecture series started in 2001. The first edition counted already with 200 delegations and 25 technical presentations over the two day event.

The evolution of ACRECONF has been exponential, getting on the 2010 edition, a total of 1,900 technical papers and 98 delegations of the highest quality worldwide.

For the upcoming event to be held in mid-January of 2012, international architect Alfredo Munoz, president of ABIBOO Architecture, has been invited as a lecturer, sharing papers with other international firms that are designing the global contemporary architectural space, like Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), HOK or ACOM among others.

During the past 15 years, Alfredo Munoz worked for several architectural firms of international repute in Europe, Middle East, USA and Asia, occupying senior management and design positions of high responsibility. These experiences led Alfredo Munoz to finally establish the international firm ABIBOO Architecture (http://www.abiboo.com/) with headquarters in Spain, USA and India and are currently developing projects in Spain, Norway, Sweden, Peru, USA, Taiwan, Vietnam and India.

On this occasion, Alfredo Munoz, as guest speaker, will address the Taiwan Tower designed by ABIBOO team, along with OODA-OOIIO as an example of new creative processes. This presentation is part of the exclusive section of Tall Buildings (Session D) to be held the first day of lectures, January 12.
The ABIBOO Architecture team was inspired in structures, shapes, materials, and spirit, with the intention of creating a pioneer and innovative design concept for the construction of the Tower of Taiwan.

In the same line of work, taking a look at the latest designs developed by ABIBOO Architecture we can see how the processes of innovation are having a successful impact on the final construction.

Alfredo Munoz continues today touring the world managing ABIBOO Architecture projects, increasing their anthropological knowledge and implementing, together with his team, new creative processes that improve the quality of life of mankind.

ACRECONF India 2012 contará con el arquitecto Alfredo Muñoz como conferenciante internacional

Reuniendo el 12 y 13 de enero a algunas de las firmas más importantes de arquitectura e ingeniería presentes en India como HOK, AECOM, SOM, ABIBOO Architecture o L&T entre otros

ACRECONF, conferencia internacional organizada por Delhi Chapter of ISHRAE en asociación con ASHRAE India Chapter, se extenderá durante los días, 12 y 13 de enero de 2012. El lugar de celebración de este evento será el emblemático India Habitat Centre, en New Delhi, India.

Este próximo año el tema objeto de la conferencia vuelve a los orígenes del universo, reviviendo a la madre naturaleza a través de la constante mejora del diseño en todo tipo de edificaciones. Este ciclo de conferencias se inauguró en el año 2001. Esta primera edición contó ya con 200 delegaciones y 25 ponencias técnicas a lo largo de los 2 días del evento.

La evolución de ACRECONF ha sido exponencial, habiendo conseguido durante la edición de 2010 un total de 1.900 delegaciones y 98 ponencias técnicas de la más alta calidad a nivel mundial.

Para este próximo ciclo a celebrar a mediados de enero de 2012 se ha invitado como ponente al arquitecto internacional Alfredo Muñoz, como presidente de ABIBOO Architecture, compartiendo ponencias con otros estudios internacionales que están diseñando el espacio arquitectónico contemporáneo global como Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), HOK o ACOM entre otros.

Durante los últimos 15 años, Alfredo Muñoz trabajó para diversos estudios de arquitectura de prestigio internacional en Europa, Oriente Medio, USA y Asia en puestos de alta responsabilidad de gestión y diseño. Estas experiencias llevaron a Alfredo Munoz a fundar la firma internacional ABIBOO Architecture (http://www.abiboo.com/) con sedes en España, USA e India y a desarrollar proyectos en España, Noruega, Suecia, Perú, USA, Taiwán, Vietnam e India.

En esta ocasión, Alfredo Muñoz, y como conferenciante invitado, abordará la Torre de Taiwán diseñada por el equipo de ABIBOO, junto con OODA-OOIIO, como ejemplo de nuevos procesos creativos. Dicha presentación forma parte del apartado exclusivo de Tall Buildings (Sesión D) a celebrar el primer día de conferencias, 12 de enero.

El equipo ABIBOO Architecture se inspiró en estructuras, formas, materiales y en espíritu con la intención de crear un concepto de diseño pionero e innovador para la construcción de esta Torre de Taiwán.

ABIBOO Architecture designs Thandalam, building combining residences with studios and facilities in India

ABIBOO Architecture, international architecture office led by Alfredo Munoz, has been developing for months the Thandalam Project, a residential complex near Chennai, southern India, consisting of about 700 homes and studios, the latter of them intended for students of a nearby university.



The project will also consist of a series of facilities to give service to the residences, as well as vast green areas which will join an urban park also planned by Abiboo Architecture in the same parcel, as Indian law requires.

The project combines a number of independent blocks, articulated in two areas defined by the presence of an existing power line tower on the site, which becomes the structuring element of a large linear eco-park with innovative elements of alternative energy, and that turns out to be protagonist of the project.

The residences are arranged in separate blocks but interconnected by towers that narrow, elongate, break and change their configuration, creating spaces of social interaction with different character that in turn maintain their relationships with the numerous green spaces provided in order to create a healthy living environment.

These independent blocks are pieces that break and fragment, playing with the lights and shadows and adapting the homes to the harsh local climatic conditions, and offering as well a glimpse of the complex inner world of the corridors where color has a notorious presence.

ABIBOO Architecture, conducts with this project a research on domestic space in India through a deep analysis of its culture and its complex philosophies, applied to define their homes (criteria marked by the Vastu standards, philosophy similar to Feng Shui).

The projected residences after this analytical exercise, added to previous research on contemporary housing as well as to the long experience in building in the Western world and to the international experience accumulated by the studio, are the design tools that mainly respond to the needs of its future inhabitants.

ABIBOO Architecture diseña Thandalam Project, edificio mixto con viviendas, estudios y equipamientos en India

ABIBOO Architecture, oficina de arquitectura internacional dirigida por Alfredo Muñoz, desarrolla desde hace meses el Thandalam Project, un complejo residencial cercano a Chennai, al sur de India, que consta de unas 700 viviendas y estudios, éstos últimos destinados a los estudiantes de una universidad cercana.



El proyecto constará, además, de una serie de equipamientos para dar servicio a todas las viviendas, así como de amplias zonas verdes que se unirán a un parque urbano proyectado también por ABIBOO Architecture en la misma parcela, tal y como establece la ley de la India.

El proyecto conjuga una serie de bloques independientes que se articulan entre sí en dos áreas definidas por la presencia de una torre y línea eléctrica existente en el solar que se convierte en el elemento configurador de un gran eco-parque lineal con elementos innovadores de energía alternativa que acaba siendo el protagonista del proyecto.

Las viviendas se organizan en bloques independientes pero con interconexiones puntuales formadas por torres que se estrechan, alargan, rompen y cambian su configuración provocando espacios de interacción social de diferente carácter que a su vez mantienen relación con los múltiples espacios verdes proporcionados para crear un entorno sano y habitable.

Los bloques independientes son piezas que se descomponen y fragmentan, construyendo un juego de luces y sombras que permite adecuar las viviendas a las duras condiciones climatológicas del lugar y deja entrever el complejo mundo interior de los corredores donde el color tiene una fuerte presencia.

ABIBOO Architecture, realiza con este proyecto un proceso de investigación del espacio doméstico en India a través de un profundo análisis de su cultura y de las complejas filosofías que se aplican a la hora de definir sus viviendas (criterios que marca el Vastu, filosofía similar al Feng Shui).

Las viviendas proyectadas tras este ejercicio analítico sumado a las investigaciones previas realizadas sobre vivienda contemporánea, así como a la larga experiencia acumulada en el mundo occidental en construcción y la experiencia internacional que atesora el estudio, son las herramientas principales de diseño que dan respuesta a las necesidades de sus futuros habitantes.

Alfredo Munoz, a profile of the dynamism and globalization in today’s architecture

Alfredo Munoz, Spanish architect born in Burgos, showed interest in transforming the world through design from early childhood. At the age of 5 he showed a very unusual and obsessive interest in trying to experiment many varieties of art. Ever since then, his life was characterized by a constant resistance to follow orders and for the search of intellectual freedom as well as the exploration of new cultures and lifestyles.



This attitude developed the personality of Alfredo Munoz as pro-active, highly sociable, and extroverted, with a natural ease for human relations. All that, plus the influence of a dynamic business-like family environment, had as a result, his interest for a nomadic and autonomous lifestyle. Thus, Alfredo Munoz developed a great interest for anthropology and international relations which lead him to grow an entrepreneurial and global mind.

Alfredo Munoz interests for diverse disciplines like Mathematics, Fine Arts, and Design, led him to volunteer as an assistant to some renowned architecture in his hometown, and later, to attend architecture school in the prestigious Polytechnic University of Madrid.During his college education times, he kept making compatible his academic and professional life, working for s several architectural firms of international prestige, as that of Alberto Campo Baeza, or Iñaki Ábalos & Juan Herreros. This time of intense work education was combined with constant educational trips around Europe, USA and Latin America.

His graduation in the Architecture School of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) as the youngest architect in decades was highly recognized and respected by the Proffesors, among them by Mariano Bayon, who encouraged him to work in Asia.

Alfredo Munoz then moved to Japan, where he started working for the acclaimed architect Toyo Ito. This experience meant for Alfredo a personal and professional turning point, when he learned and also consolidated many of the architectural and psychological ideas that he had explored for years. His work with Toyo Ito in Tokyo led to his appointment as the Manager of Toyo Ito’s office in Spain at the early age of 23 years. Alfredo moved then to Barcelona for this task and to manage locally the expansion of the Barcelona Fair, a large scale project (3 million sqf) of mixed use in the city.

During this period in Barcelona, Alfredo kept combining an intense professional and academic activity, working on his PhD at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia on the combination of creative processes in Asia, Europe and America, establishing new ways of architectural creation. His architectural vision and the result of this research, allowed Alfredo to teach and lecture in prestigious international architecture schools, such as Columbia University in New York, UPenn in Philadelpia, Pescara in Italy, Royal University in Stockholm, Tongji University in Shanghai, European University in Madrid, or the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, along others.

After this experience in Toyo Ito Spain, Alfredo Munoz accepted the offer of the large multinational Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) to join their senior team in New York, giving up the Executive MBA from the University of Chicago where he was accepted as the youngest person in the program until date in the more than 100 years of history of the institution.  During 4 and a half years at SOM, Alfredo Munoz worked as Technical Coordinator and Project Manager of Large projects in the USA, Kuwait and India, like the Alhambra Tower  or the USA Army National Museum, just to mention  a few. His last 2 years at SOM, already as an associate, Alfredo took charge of the operations of the firm in India, and after this period, he left the company to be able to work on his own projects.

After some other experiences, Alfredo Munoz started the international studio ABIBOO Architecture (http://www.abiboo.com/) with headquarters in Spain, USA, and India, and with projects in Spain, Norway, Sweden, Peru, USA, Taiwan, Vietnam, and India. Such projects go from villas for celebrities to large building developments.

In alignment with his association with Academia, Alfredo Munoz currently works as assessor at the Advisory Board of Directors of MARG Institute of Design & Architecture Swarnabhoomi to create an international renowned university located in Chennai, India. He is as well assessor for the Board of Directors of two companies in the Real State area, one in Spain and one in the USA.  

Alfredo Munoz keeps touring the world managing ABIBOO Architecture projects, growing his anthropological knowledge and applying, along with his team, all he has learned in the Projects he performs.

The new urbanism in the 21st Century as seen by ABIBOO Architecture

Globalization has accelerated the process of transformation of public spaces

We are immersed in a society that has rapidly changed from the culture of industrialization, characterized by perfect, categorical, absolute, and rigid truths, to a different one made of a precarious, fast, immediate, fluid, and shapeless context, typical of the society of information. Globalization has accelerated the process of social change and the public space in the city, turning towards the architecture of design and innovation still combining a genuine social architecture commitment.

Today’s habitability is spent in those places called non-places by Augé, architectural or psychological spaces which in a certain way don’t belong to us and are not subject of colonization. This phenomenon is even more noticeable in the urban development of developing countries (BRIC) where the speed of execution, the financial pressure, the lack of regulation, and the “momentum” of growth, generate many completely new spaces in terms of typologies and urban structures.

If we want to deeply analyze the new urbanism of the 21^st century, we must set aside the legacy of “think local, act global” characteristic of the late 20^th century and get closer to the “think global, act local”. To do that, is essential to know the cultures in which the urban structures subject of analysis are inserted.

El nuevo urbanismo del Siglo XXI visto por ABIBOO Architecture

La globalización ha acelerado el proceso de transformación del espacio público




Estamos inmersos en una sociedad que ha cambiado rápidamente de la cultura de la industrialización caracterizada por las soluciones perfectas, categóricas, absolutas y rígidas a otra conformada por un contexto precario, veloz, instantáneo, informe y fluido característico de la Sociedad de la Información. La globalización ha acelerado el proceso de transformación social y del espacio público de las ciudades, girando hacia una arquitectura de diseño e innovación que aúne un verdadero compromiso social arquitectónico.

La habitabilidad de hoy transcurre en esos lugares que Augé llamaría los `no-lugares´, espacios arquitectónicos o psicológicos que de alguna forma no nos pertenecen y que no son colonizables. Este fenómeno es aún más perceptible en los desarrollos urbanos de los Países Emergentes (BRIC) en donde la velocidad de ejecución, la presión financiera, la escasa regulación y el “momentum” de crecimiento, genera multitud de espacios completamente nuevos en cuanto a tipologías y estructura de ciudad.

Si queremos realizar un estudio profundo del nuevo urbanismo del siglo XXI hemos de dejar de lado la herencia del “think local, act global” propia de finales del siglo XX y seguir un acercamiento al “think global, act local”. Para ello, es fundamental conocer las culturas donde se implantan las estructuras urbanas objeto de estudio.

Alfredo Munoz examines the new urbanism in India – Study Case

Analyzing the economic assessments to understand the urban structure in developing countries



As Alfredo Munoz, Architect graduated in Spain, founder of ABIBOO Architecture and PhD in Architectural Design in the U.S.A indicates: “India presents some features shared with the rest of Eastern countries and, at the same time, shows other specific characteristics that should be detailed researched in order to understand the new urban structures and the infrastructures of the country as well”. 

Hand in hand with the social-cultural change, result of globalization, economy is the engine that gives impulse to such transformation. That is why is so essential to analyze the economic assessments to understand the urban structure in developing countries, moreover if we take into account that in those countries, the economic pressure normally promote, organize, and structure the new urban spaces and infrastructures of the city.

“It will be then, Alfredo Munoz remarks, as a result of the socio-cultural circumstances and properties of a given place, when we will be able to analyze the urban and infrastructural typologies. In the case of India, we can observe that the topology, conceived as the science of connectivity, moves close to explain the new urbanism, where the important in architecture are not the objects by themselves, but the space-time relations between them.

The ABIBOO Architecture founder wants to emphasize also that “in the urban environment, this topology leads to a sponge-like, concentrated, and vast space that prompts different relationships between the natural and the man-made environments, relationships that can hardly keep being expressed in background-figure gestaltic terms. The European model of city and public space gives way in India and in a large number of BRIC to other kind of organization more open, less structured where the separation line between public space and infrastructure becomes thinner, even merging together”.

Según nos comenta Alfredo Muñoz, titulado en Arquitectura en España, fundador de ABIBOO Architecture y PhD en Diseño Arquitectónico en U.S.A.: “India presenta características compartidas con el resto de países orientales y al tiempo, presenta otra serie de propiedades muy particulares que han de estudiarse en detalle para poder entender las nuevas estructuras urbanas e infraestructurales del país”.

Acompañando de la mano a la transformación socio-cultural, fruto de la globalización, se encuentra el motor económico como base para dicha transformación. Es por ello fundamental estudiar las valoraciones económicas para entender las estructuras urbanas de los países emergentes, más aún teniendo en cuenta que en dichos países son estas presiones económicas las que generalmente promueven, organizan y estructuran los nuevos espacios urbanos e infraestructurales de la ciudad.

“Será por último, alude Alfredo Muñoz, y como resultado de las características y circunstancias socio-culturales y económicas de un lugar, cuando podremos estudiar las tipologías urbanas y de infraestructuras. En el caso de India podremos observar que la topología, entendida como ciencia de las conectividades, se aproxima cada vez más a la forma de explicación del nuevo urbanismo, en donde lo importante arquitectónicamente no son los objetos en sí mismo sino las relaciones espacio-temporales entre ellos”.

El fundador de ABIBOO Architecture quiere destacar también que “en el medio urbano, esta topología conduce a un espacio concentrado, extenso y espongiforme que provoca relaciones diferentes entre el medio natural y artificial, relaciones que dudosamente pueden seguir planteándose en términos gestálticos de, figura-fondo. El modelo de ciudad y de espacio público europeo da paso en el caso de India y de gran parte de los BRIC a otras organizaciones más abiertas, más desestructuradas y en donde la línea de separación conceptual entre espacio público e infraestructuras es cada vez más fina, llegando a fusionarse ambas en la mayor parte de los casos”.

Architect Alfredo Munoz launches ABIBOO Architecture

New professional stage in which he integrated the study OOIIO Corp and became internationalized by opening up new headquarters

 

Alfredo Munoz, founder of the study ABIBOO Architecture, started a new professional stage by integrating his former architectural study OOIIO, which he founded, with a larger financial and human capital in order to catapult the company towards internationalization, innovation, new technology and environmental awareness for customers who are even more ambitious and exclusive.

ABIBOO Architecture was founded with the aim of making quality architecture around the world and it’s equipped with a great global infrastructure to embrace projects of international significance. To achieve this, ABIBOO Architecture expanded its headquarters in Madrid, New York and Chennai (Madras) with an international and multidisciplinary team with broad experience in the execution of complex large scale projects. Following this line of expansion, ABIBOO Architecture has also established a presence in Seoul and Kuwait to be closer to the clients of these geographical areas as a prelude to a possible opening of offices in these locations. ABIBOO Architecture continues its former tradition by working for private clientele by offering them our modern, exclusive and high quality designs for homes, businesses and leisure/cultural areas, the same way as they had been doing in Europe and America.

Examples of these projects are the homes we designed for world known people and celebrities with international prestige such as Microsoft executives and soccer players of the Real Madrid team. Likewise, Alfredo Munoz has designed spaces like the Lorena Morlote beauty parlor where personalities like Joaquín Cortés, Victoria Beckam or Shakira, among others, frequently visit to enjoy the design and contemporaneity they offer.  

At ABIBOO Architecture we continue to research and experiment with new materials and technologies as we have done in all the projects we had built. Within this research its worth to emphasize our obsessive quest to reflect the contemporary culture of the current discontinuous and complex society, and to break with the archaic architectural influences that proceed from the society of industrialization.

The architectural innovation projected in the synthetic-inductive design processes that come from the PhD in architectural design of Alfredo Munoz, were the fundamental pillars in the designs made by the team of the architectural firm OOIIO and remain the basis of the artistic and architectural innovation of ABIBOO Architecture, together with the international team of professionals that are part of this new company.

Nueva etapa profesional en la que se integra el estudio OOIIO Corp y se internacionaliza con nuevas sedes

 

Alfredo Muñoz, fundador del estudio ABIBOO Architecture, inicia una nueva etapa profesional integrando su antiguo estudio de arquitectura OOIIO, del que fue fundador, junto con un mayor capital financiero y humano para catapultar la compañía hacia la internacionalización, la innovación, las nuevas tecnologías y el cuidado del medioambiente para clientes aún más ambiciosos y exclusivos.

El estudio ABIBOO Architecture nace con el objetivo de realizar una arquitectura de calidad, a nivel mundial y dotado con una gran infraestructura global para abarcar proyectos de repercusión internacional. Para ello, ABIBOO Architecture amplía sus sedes en Madrid,  Nueva York y Madrás (ahora Chennai), con un equipo internacional, multidisciplinar y de amplia experiencia en proyectos complejos de gran escala. Siguiendo esta línea de expansión, ABIBOO Architecture ha establecido igualmente una presencia en Seúl y Kuwait para estar más cerca de los clientes de dichas zonas geográficas, como paso previo a una posible apertura de oficinas en dichas localizaciones.
ABIBOO Architecture continúa con la tradición anterior trabajando para clientes particulares y ofreciendo sus diseños modernos, exclusivos y de alta calidad para viviendas, negocios o espacios dedicados al ocio/cultura, tal y como venía haciendo hasta ahora en Europa y América.

Ejemplos de estos proyectos son las viviendas diseñadas para personalidades y `celebrities´ de prestigio internacional, como ejecutivos de Microsoft o futbolistas de equipos de primer orden como el Real Madrid. Asimismo, Alfredo Muñoz ha diseñado espacios como el salón Lorena Morlote, donde personalidades como Joaquín Cortés, Victoria Beckam o Shakira, entre otros, acuden frecuentemente para disfrutar del diseño y contemporaneidad ofrecidos..

En paralelo a esa continua búsqueda por la excelencia, la exclusividad y la sofisticación para clientes individuales, ABIBOO Architecture nace como una clara apuesta por el desarrollo de proyectos a gran escala en países emergentes (viviendas, oficinas, complejos urbanísticos mixtos, proyectos infraestructurales, etc). Por todo ello, se ha instalado un edificio completo en pleno corazón del sur de India para los desarrollos en dicho país, así como para los realizados en Vietnam o Taiwán, entre otros.

Como ejemplos de estos proyectos podemos citar los diseños de Alfredo Muñoz como fundador de OOIIO, junto con OODA, de la torre de uso mixto  “Taichung”, en Taiwan, o el proyecto de “Future City” en Estocolmo, o los recientemente realizados en ABIBOO Architecture en el campo residencial de gran escala como Thandalam en Bangalore Highway o ECR en Chennai. 

En ABIBOO Architecture se continúa investigando y experimentando con nuevos materiales y tecnologías como ya se venía haciendo en los proyectos anteriores ya construidos. Dentro de estas investigaciones cabe destacar la obsesiva búsqueda por reflejar la cultura contemporánea de la actual sociedad discontinua y compleja, y por romper con las influencias arquitectónicas arcaicas que proceden de la sociedad de la industrialización.

La innovación arquitectónica proyectada mediante procesos de diseño sintético-inductivos, proveniente del PhD en el diseño arquitectónico de Alfredo Muñoz, fueron pilares fundamentales en los diseños realizados por el equipo del estudio de arquitectura OOIIO y siguen siendo la base de la innovación artística y arquitectónica de ABIBOO Architecture, junto al equipo internacional de profesionales de componen este nueva firma.

ABIBOO Architecture is an international study with headquarters in Madrid, New York and India. In its newly redesigned website they incorporated “Think Tank”, a space designed for the exchange of ideas, a live lab conceived for the continuous intellectual exploration of creative ideas that identify the new society of information.

Think Tank incorporates a theoretical discussion, open and virtual, about ideas from within the professional and academic practice of ABIBOO Architecture´s team, along with reviews, interviews and presentations from diverse moment referents in multiple artistic disciplines. ABIBOO Architecture, therefore, opens spaces for others to share ideas and information.

The objective that ABIBOO Architecture pursues with this space is to foster multidisciplinary collaborations and to give visibility to the work of passionate people, whichever their field of work, enriching at the same time all the architectural experience. This platform seeks to create an international community related to the art, technique and innovation that will allow sharing different resources through cascade systems that generate constant flowcharts of knowledge.

ABIBOO Architecture actualiza su web incorporando al tiempo la dirección de su nueva oficina en un hermoso edificio de tres plantas situado en el corazón de la capital del sur de la India desde donde ABIBOO Architecture centralizará todos sus trabajos en dicho país y resto de sudeste asiático.
La nueva web de ABIBOO Architecture incorpora sus  nuevos proyectos y extiende los servicios que ofrece a sus clientes.

En esta nueva etapa, con un equipo ampliado y con una mayor presencia internacional, ABIBOO Architecture redefine su filosofía mostrando una visión más ambiciosa, comprometida y multidisciplinar.
